Pukkelpop is a gigantic festival in Belgium and we’re going to learn how to create their logo in a few steps. If used in the right design or flyer it could become a killer text effect.
1. Let’s start out by creating a new file. I used a 500×300 pixels canvas, and lets fill our background with white #ffffff.
2. Now select the horizontal type tool then set the font family to cooper std, black, 60 pixels, smooth and black color. In a new text layer type the text you need using the horizontal type tool with the correct settings.
3. Now we’re going to adjust the blending options so go to (layer – layer style – blending options) and use the following settings.
Result:
4. Now go to (layer – duplicate layer) and drag this new layer under the first one.
5. We’re going to adjust the blending options of this new layer so go to (layer – layer style – blending options).
Result:
6. Your bottom layer should still be selected so go to (edit – free transform) and rotate it like this.
7. Now comes the part where you can free your mind and choose what you want to do with this. Create a new layer (layer – new layer) and drag it in between the top and bottom layer you’ve just created in the previous 6 steps of this tutorial.
8. I’ve set my foreground color to black #000000 and I’ve used the pen tool and some standard shapes and brushes from photoshop to create the following.
9. Adjust the blending options of each new layer you’ve created (layer – layer style – blending options) and use the following settings.
10. After you’ve done all this you’ve created the pukkelpop text effect. It’s not that cool at all but when used in the right layout or flyer it could become a killer text effect!
